From the Executive Director of the Henrico Education Foundation
During this time of economic challenge, HEF has committed to fund more of its operational cost eliminating this expense from the Henrico County Public School’s (HCP S) budget. The Foundation will continue to collaborate closely with HCP S educational leaders in an effort to best implement the HEF mission and serve the school system’s needs as it has done for fourteen years. This call to action positions the Foundation as a leader among educational foundations in Virginia.
The second area of change involves the coordination of school partnerships, which the Foundation will now oversee. This action sends a clear message to regional businesses and community organizations interested in providing resources to enrich Henrico schools’ academic program. By creating one portal to bring in resources, HEF will bring substantial value with enhanced coordination.
As the following pages reflect, HEF continues to focus on its vision that all students have the tools necessary for academic success. During this year the percentage of students impacted by community collaborations increased by 47.44% providing educational resources for many classrooms and student incentives to recognize and boost academic performance. The innovative grants program for teachers and principals was expanded to include a second cycle this year, awarding $44,920 for instructional projects in 22 schools. This unique program provided funding necessary to make extraordinary learning activities come to life for over 11,000 students in classrooms across Henrico.
The progress the Foundation has made to positively impact Henrico schools will continue with the support of individuals, community organizations and businesses. We look forward to increasing support services for students and teachers and hope you will partner with us to increase our impact even more.
Sincerely,
Susan F. Stanley
Executive Director
