Fund a Grant
There is a new and exciting opportunity for ‘citizen philanthropists’ from anywhere in the world to fund, either wholly or partially, a Henrico County Public School classroom project. These projects have been designed and submitted by Henrico County classroom teachers to enhance student achievement and classroom experiences. The Foundation is excited to provide you with information about DonorsChoose.org. Governor Tim Kaine endorsed this free, on-line program this past fall when it was made available to Virginia educators.
Last year, DonorsChoose.org channeled over $5 million into classrooms in existing sites. This year, DonorsChoose.org aims to direct $11 million in resources into classrooms nationwide. All Henrico County teachers, media specialists, librarians and counselors have been encouraged to take advantage of this resource to enhance their classrooms.
How can you get involved?
Go to DonorsChoose.org and click on “Viewing all States.” Select Virginia and “see more projects.” This will give you a list of all Virginia projects. To find the HCPS projects, do an advanced search and identify a community.
There you will find all the proposals from HCPS teachers. If you find a project that appeals to you, consider making a donation. It is as easy as that. Your donation will benefit a local school and provide a tax deduction for you.
